Rodney is a native of Hartsville South Carolina. He grew up in Lakeview Baptist Church and it is there that he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.  He felt a call into ministry at the age of 12 but that was not fully understood until September 21, 1987 when he yielded his life to full-time Christian service.

After graduating from college he came to Texas to go to school at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. During seminary he began serving churches in Fannin County in various capacities. It was in Fannin County that he met and married Crissi Clements of Bonham Texas. Soon after they were married , God called Rodney and Crissi to New Zion Baptist Church as  where he served as pastor from1994-1999.

In 1999 God called him to Colonial Heights Baptist Church in Colonial Heights Virginia to serve on staff as an associate pastor. In July 2006, Rodney felt led to return back to New Zion Baptist Church as pastor once again.

He and his wife Crissi have two children, Zachary and Zoe . Crissi is a  4th grade school teacher at  Bells Elementary in Bells.
